Iron(II) sulphate monohydrate neutralised is mainly used in the cement industry for reduction of hexavalent chromium.

Enrichment of cement with dry ferrous sulphate reduces the content of chromium, which is known to cause stinging and allergies. The EU directive requires that all cement manufacturers reduce the chromium compounds.
